also, what type of needle? I am usually sewing denim, and cotton duck. Usually mending and inventing stuff for my sons camping gear

any special kind or brand of thread required? ( I am guessing standard upholstery.)

Thank you :) I got my machine a month ago and have just now had time to sit down and look at it. The lady who sold it to me was so incredibly nice and helpful, but I couldn't remember a word she said, except that it was important! Online resources like these are so helpful, thank you!

How do you stop needle action?

Mine says 1895. The shaft on the needle is really long and I can't find one to replace it should it break. It's also very thick as though it could punch holes through leather. I don't know where to oil it do you have a video for that? Also the the stop wheel is Frozen in place. What can I use to force it open? As you can tell, this machine needs a lot of help and so does the operator

You seem to be the only one out there with that sewing machine to show me how to use it. I only have a couple things missing on the very top but otherwise it works pretty well. The cabinet it comes in says the Pat is 1898. I wonder if that's how old the machine also is?

Thanks for this video. My needle clamp assembly fell apart when I took it off for cleaning. After struggling to figure it out for 15 minutes, my 'helper' came along and wa-la it was together. We both had no idea how it fit, but back in the machine it went. So glad I found this video to solve the mystery!

I just bought the similar F&S hand cranked sewing machine:) Nothing moves but this gal is a beauty.
